The Hopeless Optimist: In Search of Optimism

This book was created throughout my Summer '21 Term for my Communication Design 3: Narrative & Scale class. This book's trim size is 7"x9" and is perfect bound. Typeface used throughout the book and poster is Akzidenz-Grotesk. The concept of the project is to choose an "ism" of our choice and create a narrative message by developing sequential imagery and text choices as a sensibility and as a means to developing a point of view. The "ism" chosen was optimism. This project increased my ability to make and use non-predictable images paired with language. All image treatment and infographics were designed by me with photoshop. Throughout this project, a deeper level of typesetting skills were developed, as well as learning how to visually communicate through linear and non-linear thinking. After finalizing the book, we were to design a poster that ties into our theme for a book signing event that celebrates the release. Dimensions of the poster are 24 " x 24".
